Designing Learning Environments

Throughout this course, I have been developing an instructional design project by creating an online Art History course with an Honors option using the ADDIE model. The Analysis Phase in instructional design projects is significant as it defines the project needs and ways to measure its success. There are several tasks required in the Analysis Phase including needs analysis, learner analysis, environment analysis, task analysis, situational analysis, and technology analysis. Here’s a great overview of the ADDIE model:

The Development Phase includes a comprehensive storyboard, plotting each required step in the development process. It is also the phase where the project “comes to life.” Developing online content, assessments, rubrics, and discussions focuses learning outcomes to the class’s objectives. I found this step in the ADDIE process to be the most satisfying to the instructional design process, as it provides the opportunity to apply my instructional design skills to create course content for a subject I am passionate about. I have included my final course project and storyboard below which outlines my process of creating this online Art History course.
